First Congregational Church Organizations

We have many organizations that handle outreach to social activities including:

55 Plus Support Group

The 55 Plus Support Group aims to nurture a positive image of the aging experience, minimize age related health issues, and maximize opportunities for the 55 and older members of the congregation. This organization provides a venue for this particular demographic to share concerns and remain active within the church.

Yearly activities coordinated by this organization include Everybody’s Birthday, 55+ Sunday, North Georgia Mountain Trip, various fund raising events, the Christmas Luncheon, and various educational events. 55 Plus welcomes all members willing to participate who are 55 years old or older.

Altar Guild

The Altar Guild functions as a service and support organization to the Senior Minister and the church. This organization is charged with the floral beautification of the church services, special events, and holiday observances. The Altar Guild also assists in the development of the church’s historical, religious, cultural, civic, artistic, evangelistic, and social outreach programs.

Yearly activities coordinated by this organization include Women’s Emphasis Month, the Anniversary Celebration of First Congregational Church, church retreats and workshops, the Hanging of the Green, and the Holiday Extravaganza. The Altar guild welcomes all members that are willing to participate.
